Shawn Smith, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Yuma, joined us once again to give a presentation on the Humane Society.  He encouraged the Club, as well as any interested individuals, to become a member of the HS and make your support known at official meetings.  The membership fee for individuals is approximately $25, and members will have voting rights. He also announced that the first low-cost spay/neuter program will start in November.   Another upcoming HS event [part of the capital campaign for a new facility]: Walk-N-Wag-A-Thon, Saturday, Oct. 27 2007, at Kiwanis Park. Tickets for the Walk-N-Wag are $10; walk with your pet and raise money for the HS.  Raffle tickets are also available for $20; with few tickets sold so far, odds are good to win the vehicle that was donated as a prize.

Here's a photo of Shawn speaking at the meeting; Treasurer [2007] Richard Lackey in the background.
